History of Newland Park

It all began a long time ago. We’ve got quite a history.

The local village of Chalfont St Giles dates back to the Doomsday survey of 1086, and records of Newland Park began in 1208. In the 1900s the Manor House here sheltered suffragettes – Emmaline Parkhurst, Bernard Shaw, Sidney and Beatrice Webb and H G Wells were all frequent visitors in those days.

But in the 1940s the estate changed from a private residence to a College of Education, which then became part of High Wycombe College and then Buckinghamshire New University.

We at Academy Residences took over the almost derelict site in 2013, and since then we’ve been continuing to invest in all the accommodation and facilities to return the campus to its former glory.

We’ve upgraded everything – ¬†come and see!
